Just like the previous week, I arrived on the farm early enough to join in the daily routine.
With a favourable weather, the exercise at hand was the sorting of the fish.
Fish would always out-grow one another despite being of the same age. The fast growing ones are referred to as shooters.
For these exercise a smooth surface is derived from the use of a glass, wide enough to separate the fish into varying sizes. The sorted fish are then separated into different ponds.
Jokingly, the process looked like playing draft!
Few days ago, our experimental samples on white oyster started fruiting!
Now, the mushroom unit has embarked on large scale commercial production with over a thousand substrate being inoculated daily.
I watched the sterilisation process of the mushroom substrate, this was done with improvised drums, designed to heat the substrate to very high temperatures.
Like the turkeys that are feeding and growing well in their breeder pen, the Ostriches are also doing fine.
Quite interesting working under a cool ambiance provided by nature!
