CFC PROFILE

The Centre for Change is a non-governmental, not-for- profit organization established in July 2003, by Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, a renowned human rights activist, who have spend most of her practice and time in the struggle for a democratic Nigeria and the building of a civil and virile society where there is respect and dignity for human person.
CFC was established out of worries and growing concern that after four years of civil rule, the people who own the sovereignty of government and on whose mandate government derive its existence are still alienated and completely excluded from democratic process and governance. The electoral fraud of the 2003 elections and the absolute manipulation of election results clearly showed that the people do not matter to those in government.The disregard for democratic principles such as - participation at all levels; accountability; transparency and openness; respect for human rights; the rule of law; constitutional governance; and pro-people policies are clear indications that Nigeria is not yet a ...

DR. JOE OKEI-ODUMAKIN

Josephine ``Joe`` Obiajulu Okei-Odumakin is a Nigerian women's rights activist. She is the president of the rights groups ``Women Arise for Change Initiative`` and the``Campaign for Democracy``. Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin traversed courageously where men fear to tread. She remained consistent without minding the hazards to her person in a society where critical voices are loathed by unjust system which rewards the crook and punishes the just. Dr. Joe was born in Zaria on July 4, she grew up in Ilorin and started her schooling at St. Barnabas Primary School, Ilorin where she obtained the first school leaving certificate.
