


OUR HISTORY
RRS’s achievements is almost a year of it’s rebranding by His Excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, has been extremely dramatic, unique in terms of zeal injected into service delivery by its leadership and officers and the swiftness of its response time to crime as well as emergency across the state.
Although, RRS was designed to be the first responder to crisis, it is living up to expectations by averagely getting to crime scenes even before the closest police formation.
RRS’s achievements are legion and numerous to be confines into a short essay but here are few tips of its ground – breaking successes.
Re-orientation and modern policing techniques:
It is a common sight to see RRS officers assisting members of the public in need of assistance, particularly those with broken down vehicles in bad spots and at odd hours. These are the attitudinal changes RRS leadership has been promoting. Attitudes that make officers recognize that the satisfaction and safety of people is the basis of policing.
RRS is re-creating a force that respects members of the public even in the task of discharging their duties. RRS has trained and retrained its officers to be alive to its duties. That is why RRS is called Elite Police.Testimonies of such attitudinal changes are replete.
New Technology Policing: RRS has taken policing beyond the traditional conventional means of crime detecting and botching.
The command is leveraging on new technologies like drone surveillance, social media tracking and internet fraud.
Vehicle Tracking and Recovery: in less than a year, RRS has tracked and recovered over 70 vehicles stolen and recovered within and outside the state.
Search and Rescue of Bristow Crashed Chopper: RRS helicopter was the first to spot the Bristow helicopter that forced-landed on the ocean in February, 2016.
Arrest of Kidnappers: Several kidnapping suspect were arrested by the Decoy Team of RRS. Some of these were Blessing Yanyanbin, who kidnapped a Chinese in Ikorodu. Another, Godwin, arrested in Warri, Delta State in connection with a kidnapping incident in Iju – Fagba, Lagos.
Bank Fraud: Several cases bothering of bank fraud have been cracked by RRS leading to the arrest of several suspects and colluding bank staffers. Some of the prominent ones are: N150 million Bank Fraud with suspects like Israel Ochehi;Peter Ezerupe; Obeny Udeme; Winners Golden Bet Fraud amounting to N5 million and Prof Sambo Banjoko ATM’s card – N2.7 million.
Recovery of Stolen Phones and Robbery: arrested several dealers of stolen phones across the state mostly from Ajegunle and Computer Village leading to the recovery of several stolen phones thus leading to the arrest of many armed robbers, ‘one-chance’ gangs and pickpockets.
Suspects in this category include kazeem Damiduro, Ubuke Micheal, Obinna Okoro, Akeem Fatai, Jerry Nwokoro etc.
Several other successes include: arrest of fraudsters; Car thieves, teenage robbers; blackmailers etc.
